Stuff I Used to Make a Mini Witch Hat for Halloween – What is going to YOUR mini witch hat appear to be?
The beauty of creating DIY mini witch hats is the actual fact you can customize the hats so easily. I was inspired by a number of fascinator tutorials online. My version of a mini hat was the result. What accessories or features will your mini hat have?

I used polypro webbing, a headband, sequins and a few plastic spiders and ants to decorate my witch hats.

Black Metallic Flat Sequins, 6mm X 80ydI used my sizzling glue gun to attach strands of black sequins to the bottom of the cone on the hat.

That is a very transient look at the details of my witch hat fascinator.

1. The cone of the hat is Stuffed with polyfiber filling to make it stiff.

2. Underneath the brim tabs sewn to safe a thick headband to the hat.

Three. Beneath the brim tabs to secure a skinny headband to the hat.

4. Shut up of black plastic spider, cockroach and ant scorching glued together with rows of black sequins to the base of the cone. You can use a fancy Halloween pin or some black roses instead of insects.

5. 4 layers of black tulle measuring 9 inches tall x 18 inches large.

6. Gathered tulle sewn and hooked up under edge of brim.

Step 1
Template (and insert) for Mini Witch Hat Base
I used versatile slicing mats to create templates for the brims for my version of a mini witch hat. Additionally the mat will function a stiffener when inserted into an opening in the sewn brim of the hat. Utilizing a few bowls from my kitchen, I traced circles on the mats and cut along the strains with craft scissors. (The bowls were 7 1/2″ and eight 1/2″ in diameter).

It’s important to remember one of many fun things about these little mini hat fascinators is the actual fact they are MINI in measurement. It is a part of their charm. πŸ™‚ So simply grab one thing circular from the kitchen and trace away! πŸ™‚

Step 2
For each mini hat, you will hint a circle template onto the incorrect aspect of your chosen fabric. Earlier than sewing together TWO items of fabric proper sides together, you will need to first sew a tab product of webbing to the precise side of one of the circle templates. (This sewn tab can’t be seen within the photograph above as a result of it is INSIDE the two circles being sewn together.)

See Step three for more info on the tabs.

Ensure to sew “tabs” that may rest underneath the brim to secure the mini hat to the headband.

Discover the already-finished brim on the left I used two 1″ extensive strips of poly webbing to make a tab that would simply accommodate the bigger headband. The strips are sewn on the ends solely leaving the edges open so the headband is inserted underneath the tabs. This allows the hat to be positioned on the top in line with the wearers preference.

The webbing tabs on the proper proven being sewn on this picture are crisscrossed within the middle, leaving a large X opening for the skinny headband to be inserted securely through. (see close up photo of this in step 4 under)

Step 5 – Inserting Versatile Template into Witch Hat Brim
I still need to take a photo of this step. However, I hope this description of Step 5 will suffice for now…..

After sewing together the 2 circular fabric items of the brim and leaving approximately a 6″ opening, flip the fabric circles right side out. This is where the versatile part comes in for the slicing mats….just loosely curl the cutting mat circle template into a cylinder form and insert into the opening between fabric sections.

The mat should slip in nicely after which using your fingers it ought to take only a few seconds for the mat to lay flat. Now sew the opening closed with a slip stitch.

Step 6
Let’s Make a Cone for the Mini Witch Hat
There are articles on-line that present you the way to make a cone form. I simply guesstimated the size of my fabric cone, turned the cone right side out, stuffed it with polyfiber filling, minimize out a circle shape to suit the open end of the cone. I pinned this small circle to the tip of the cone and slip stitched it in place to maintain the stuffing inside the cone.

The completed cone was then sewn by hand onto the middle of the flat brim. Stitches were hidden with a row of black sequins at the bottom of the cone.

Step 7
Making a Sexy Tulle Veil
This mini witchy hat would not be full without a sexy veil. Here’s how I made mine……

1. Reduce four pieces of black tulle 9 inches tall x 18 inches long. Lay the items on high of each other.

2. Sew alongside one long edge of the layers in a basting stich. (Use your sewing machine or sew by hand.) Leave lengthy edges of the thread on each end to assist in the following step.

Three. Now pull the basting or gathering stitches collectively to a size that looks good beneath the brim of your hat. Tie loose thread ends collectively to maintain desired size.

Four. Fold the bottom layer of tulle Over the top and to the front of the highest 3 layers. This can create one shorter layer on top which makes the veil seem fuller and softer. Sew the layers about 1/2 inch from the highest in this manner.

5. Pin the gathered tulle veil onto the underside of the brim just about three/four” from the edge of the brim. Baste into place by hand.
